Rome: the history of Cinema

Rome is one of the most important european capitals of the cinema, for this reason every year in november here takes place the “Festival del Cinema”, that attracts among others international directors and actors.

  • If you are lovers of the italian cinema, the fundamental step of you roman tour is Cinecittà, a sort of italian Hollywood.
    “Cinecittà si mostra” is an event that recalls Cinecittà history with its: scenic settings, stage costumes, actors and directors that were protagonists of this world.
    Visits:
    Everyday (except tuesday) from 9.30 a.m. to 17.30 p.m. ( ticket office closing time at 16.30 p.m.). You can reach the exhbit location taking the metro A, Cinecittà stop.

Rome is famous as well because it was the set of numerous films that consecrated italian cinema history. Rossellini, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Pietro Germi choosed Rome and its popular neighborhoods as locations of their films, in order to make live again the soul of the protagonists of their films, most of all working class people. The most cherished area is without a doubt the Pigneto district (you can reach it taking the trams 5 or 14 from Termini Station) where have been shooted among others scenes from “Roma città aperta”, “Accattone”, “Ferroviere”, “Bellissima”.
