Villa Malaparte Capri

Villa Malaparte – the mysterious house on the rocks of Capri

Villa Curzio Malaparte Villa Malaparte or Casa Malaparte is a private home that belonged to the writer Curzio Malaparte and was designed by the architect Adalberto Libera. Erected in 1938, the building is located on the coast of the island of Capri, in the Gulf of Naples, emerges from the harsh rocks of Punta Massullo, along the walk of Pizzolungo, and still represents one of the greatest works of Italian rationalism. The writer Curzio Malaparte contributed greatly to the realization of the Villa, that seems to stand right by the sea as a sort of big wreck on the rock, and here he wrote part of one of his most important novels, Kaputt. Also called Casa come me, It was used as the set of Contempt by Jean-Luc Godard, the film with Brigitte Bardot and Michel Piccoli, and The Skin, that Liliana Cavani adapted from the novel by Malaparte. The film has helped boost even more the charm of this place; Villa Malaparte in fact is on the poster of the Cannes Film Festival 2016 and portrays right a Contempt

Pompeii is alive and unveils six new restored villas

Pompeii is still alive and unveils new treasures Recently 6 new restored domus have been found in this bottomless archeological treasure chest. Near the coast of the bay of Naples, in the Campania region, once stood a flourishing and refined Roman city, catastrophically buried beneath meters of ash and pumice after the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 AD. The extraordinary archaeological site is one of the most visited and appreciated in the whole world and conceals millennia of history, art, culture and stories that paradoxically have remained quite intact thanks to the remains that had covered them. Jewels, objects, utensils and bodies over the centuries have been found out during excavation works, that have been bringing to light inestimable pieces of art and history. Now what came back to light are 6 domus, that is ancient dwellings with different peculiarities that show an extraordinary cross-section of the life in the roman city in the years before the fatal eruption. Spaces that tell stories about the richest and most privileged people like the owner of the Domus dell’Efebo, where luxury

The panicked citizens tried to flee, while some believers went to St. Andrew the Apostle’s tomb to pray and ask for a miracle. The pirates shortly after reached them, but suddenly there was a strong wind that dragged the bad guys off. After that, began a storm that hit just the ships of the pirates that eventually sank. The people of Amalfi were saved and hailed as a miracle of the patron saint. Every year is celebrated the patron Saint Andrew, to whom is also attributed the miracle of the “manna”. It is said that the “manna” comes out from the remains of the saint; this event happened for the first time in on 1304 on November 29. Nowadays it happens normally six times a
