Romaeuropa Festival 2016

Romaeuropa Festival 2016

We can think of Rome as a huge stage, set of countless events influencing and changing the history of the whole world. Beyond the historic and political events, also art of course changes the face of humanity bringing and expressing its evolution. Romaeuropa transforms Rome into a huge proscenium that enacts an artistic synesthesia taking place all over the eternal city for several months.

The Romaeuropa Festival 2016 will be held in the period from September 21 to December 3, 2016 in Rome. It is one of the most important Italian events that surround art, performance art, theatre, music, contemporary dance and film. Active for twenty years, the Romaeuropa Festival was born thanks to the synergistic work of the Association of Friends and Villa Medici in 1990, that in that year became Romaeuropa Foundation.

Over the years this festival has hosted artists such as: Roland Petit, Michael Nyman, Luciano Berio, Philip Glass, William Kentridge, Jean-Luc Godard, Marina Abramović, so it was an important center for dialogue between the different arts in the capital. Among the events not to be missed in this edition is certainly the resetting to music of Andrei Tarkovsky’s masterpiece, Solaris, by Ben Frost, Daníel Bjarnason and Brian Eno co-produced by the National Academy of Santa Cecilia, to be held on November 20 at Auditorium Parco della Musica.

On 28 and 29 October at Monk Club instead L’Orchestre d’hommes – Orchestres will present a tribute to Tom Waits deconstructing and rearranging the songs of the great blues artist. Romeo Castellucci will be at the Argentina Theatre October 4 to 6 with ORESTEA (an organic comedy?), in which the original text of Aeschylus becomes only the apparatus from which to investigate the origins of our civilization.

Finally we point out among other things the presentation of an exclusive project of the Italian singer-songwriter Colapesce at the Monk Club the 20 and 21 October, Isola di fuoco; the song meets the evocative images of the work of the great documentary filmmaker Vittorio De Seta.
