Italian borghi you have to visit in 2017 (part.1)

In this article we are going to talk about Italian borghi you have to visit in 2017. Italy has a peculiar nature made of tons of villages gravitating around a bigger center. Each of this villages, from South to North Italy, has a strong characterization, wine and food tradition, customs and local features that confer to our territory its unique and variegated nature. Here we want to enlist the most peculiar and lovely villages “borghi” that lay alongside Italian peninsula.

Portofino
Not far from Genova, capital of the Liguria region, lays the splendid borgo of Portofino. Framed either by the blue sea or by mountains, it is a very sought-after destination for holidays both for Italians and stranger tourists. From the pastel-colored of little houses to the charming boutiques and starred restaurants, it beckons thousands of visitors every year that come to Portofino often by yachts that make the harbour even more charming. A 16th-century fortress and panoramic views on the Ligurian Sea moreover make it a pearl of the Italian Riviera.

Varenna
We already talked about awesome Lake Como, but this time we want to visit in depth Varenna, one of the most enchanting villages of the lake. Overlooking one of the major and most visited Italian lakes, Varenna boasts narrow lanes and steeped staircases that will lead you to discover an enchanted scenario. As others villages of the area but with a little extra, this atmospheric little fishing village with waterfront cafes, villas and gardens will amaze your eyes and spirit.

Procida
Looking for a corner of heaven where to relax, but at the same time to stun your eyes? Procida Island is the thing for you. Breathtaking panoramas perfect for a bike ride enjoying the view. One of the Flegrean Islands off the coast of Naples, Procida is easily reachable by ferryboat but at the same time quiet and not inflated. An ancient history dating back to ancient greeks plus plenty of attractions. We strongly recommend the port of Corricella, Cumae site and the most ancient village on the highest point of the island.

Castel Sardo
A splendid example of Sardinian village, this borgo presents hundreds of colors that brighten up its dwellings and a fantastic castle that dominates the town all to be discovered. This little gem in the Province of Sassari, at the east point of the Gulf of Asinara, has extremely ancient origins (excavations have showed the human presence in the area of Castelsardo since pre-Nuragic times), to say nothing of its amazing crystal clear sea. Once there you can’t miss the old fortress of Castel Genovese.
