No more holidays for tourists? Do you want to discover new things and see off the radar places no one knows? Well, how many times did you repeat this sentence, maybe every year, but then you fell back on a easier plan or itinerary. But this year we want to change direction and become more explorers less average tourists. Here a mini-list with three destinations in Italy a little bit ignored by the social and the usual guides but definitely worthy a visit.

Colle Val d'Elsa

Colle Val d’Elsa – (Tuscany)

Not enough known being a jewel of a borgo as it is. This little gem in Tuscany is located in the province of Siena and is known especially for its crystal glass production, but it also offers gorgeous attractions as medieval mood, a charming Duomo and all the characteristics that make unique the “borgos” of Tuscany. It boasts a one of a kind charm and a spectacular view of Tuscany beauties, good museums and last but not least excellent restaurants where to savor the wine and the food of this region. Think about a day trip from Siena or a stop-over between Florence and Siena.

Siracusa_2014 05 30_3399

Siracusa – (Sicily)

Everybody knows and has visited at least once Palermo, Catania or Taormina but how many of you had the pleasure to enjoy the wonders of Syracusa? Well, trust us. Once arrived in town, head towards the north-west part of the city and you’ll find a fantastic archaeological site including an incredible amount of precious and well-preserved remains dating back to Greek and Roman eras. Without a doubt the most impressive is the Greek Theatre. Instantly you’ll feel like being in a timeless spot. The city itself is enchanting allowing you to lose yourself in its medieval alleys that lead to an amazing blue sea.

Bobbio - Devil's Bridge

Bobbio – (Emilia-Romagna)

The third stage of our trip through underrated destinations is Bobbio, a little and very old village in the heart of the Val Trebbia that offers so much to see. From the Abbey dating back to 614 to the suggestive old town center ideal for promendades. This art heritage city presents a peculiar architecture with Roman ruins, medieval buildings and castles, hidden clefts and surprises. With narrow alleys that emerge into wide squares and historical monuments, it is inhabited since stone age and boasts Ponte Vecchio, measuring 280 meters with 11 irregular arches that confers to it a creepy but unique and fascinating aspect. It is also called Hunchbacked Bridge Ponte or “The Devil’s bridge” because of the ancient legend according which it was built by the devil in person
