From Salerno Port to Pompeii Sorrento and Positano
You will drive by the base of the volcano Mt Vesuvius, the city of Pompeii and many other villages. Shortly thereafter you will arrive in Pompeii where you will have about two hours to visit on your own the ruins of a city with 2500 years of history which is actually the best preserved ancient roman town in the world. Stores, theaters, houses, markets, streets and much more than you can even imagine about a place which suddenly disappeared and now this ancient town is giving us back the splendor it lost on August 24, 79 A.D.
You will then meet your driver back outside the ruins and you will soon be on your way to Sorrento. The driver will stop in the main square of Sorrento and you will have around one hour free time for a walk through the historical center visiting the old streets, where the alleys cross each other and create a very enjoyable grid: old buildings with an intriguing architecture, churches, limoncello (lemon liquor) factories where you can first try and then, if you want, to get your yellow digestive drink, leather shops and inlaid woodwork shops.
You will then proceed to Positano driving down the Amalfi Coast, here as well you will have the chance to take other beautiful pictures of the incredible sceneries of this enchanting land. Positano, the jewel of the Amalfi coast, is a vertical town where the houses are set on the top of each other, where the road is considered one of the most beautiful drives in the world.
Our driver will reach the furthest part of the town accessible by vehicle, from here you can walk through the alleys in the pedestrian area where all the local seamstresses hang their works out of the shops. You will pass by the art galleries, bougainvillea flower shelter and finally arrive at the waterfront where you will see typical local restaurants on this awesome beach as well as the view of the steepest “hill of houses”.
After this wonderful visit you will drive back to the ship.
