From Naples Port to Herculaneum Sorrento and Positano
If you have already been to Pompeii but you still wish to visit the towns of Sorrento and Positano? With this tour you will have the chance to see the tiny ancient town of Ercolano where the Romans enjoyed their vacation, the breathtaking vertical town of Positano and the alleys and scents of Sorrento.
Your Private driver will be waiting for you at the gang way showing a sign with your Last name. It will take around 20 minutes to reach Ercolano, here you will enjoy a professional guided tour that will last around 2 hours. The guide will tell you about a city older than 2000 years which was buried by the lava mud during the eruption of the 79 a.d. and is, according to many, better preserved and also easier to visit than Pompeii. During the drive between Ercolano and Positano you have the chance to get 1 or 2 (traffic dependent) stops to take pictures of the unforgettable scenaries you will experience.
The second stop will be in Positano. Descending down the winding one-way road, we will pass by many picturesque houses and shops. Arriving in the heart of the town, the driver will reach the furthest point accessible by vehicle, from here you can walk downtown through the alleys in the pedestrian area where all the local seamstresses hang their works out of the shops, you may reach the bottom looking at the art galleries, bougainvillea flower shelter and the typical restaurants on this awesome beach where you can see the steepest “hill of house”.
Lunch time can be chosen depending on your needs. The driver will be happy to suggest the best local restaurants in town.
After another 25 minutes drive, you will reach Sorrento, the land of lemons. Here you will have around one hour free time, which will be perfect for a walk through the historical center visiting the old streets, where the alleys cross each other and create a very enjoyable grid, old buildings with an intriguing architecture, churches, limoncello (lemon liquor) factories where you can first try and then, if you want, to get your yellow digestive drink, leather shops and inlaid woodwork shops.
It’ll take 1 hour to go back to the ship in Naples, in order to avoid any traffic jams the driver will advise about timings on the day of the tour.
