Now it’s possible to rediscover one of the most important and amazing attractions of Rome, the Imperial fora, constructed in Rome over a period of one and a half centuries, between 46 BC and 113 AD and the center of the Roman Republic and of the Roman Empire.

Thanks to this initiative you could undertake a suggestive nocturnal path right inside the fora, with night guided tours. Inaugurated last 21 april, in occasion of the 2769th Birthday of the Eternal City, founded 21st April 753 BC by Romolo according to legend, “La luna al Foro” (The moon at the Forum) will allow visitors from all over the world to enjoy this unparalleled experience from april 22 to october 28 2016.

The itinerary starts from the Basilica Aemilia, founded in 179 BC, which originally hosted all the activities of the Fora during the cold season. Lights mark perfectly the sequence of the columns that used to divide the space of the basilica. From here we can reach the seat of the Roman Senate, the Curia Julia. We can go on towards the Santa Maria Antiqua church, which walls are a real estate of paintings, and unique example in the Christian world of the first millennium.

Dating back to 5th century it had been for a long time the monumental access to the Palatine imperial palaces. At this point of our travel, we can walk through the Via Sacra, the main street of ancient Rome, leading from the top of the Capitoline Hill, through some of the most important religious sites of the Forum, to climb up to the Arch of Titus, flanking the Antoninus and Faustina Temple, built by Emperor Antoninus on his wife’s death in 141 AD.

The evocative guided tour ends on the majestic podium of Temple of Venus and Roma, officially inaugurated by Hadrian in 135, and finished in 141 AD by Antonino Pio and is thought to have been the largest temple in Ancient Rome. It was erected on the remnants of the porticoed vestibule to Emperor Nero’s Domus Aurea. From here you can cherish a view of the Colosseum without equal.
