The Great Beauty triumphs at the Golden Globes 2014, Paolo Sorrentino wins Best Foreign Film
Last night, Italy won another cinematographic guinness. “La Grande Bellezza” (The Great Beauty) directed by Paolo Sorrentino indeed won the Golden Globe for best foreign film. Before yesterday, the last prize awarded by the Hollywood foreign press was Nuovo Cinema Paradiso by Giuseppe Tornatore, in 1990.
In a few months La Grande Bellezza has received many nominations and won many awards at the most important film exhibitions, including Hollywood Film Festival, Sevilla Festival de Cine, Nastro D’Argento, European Film Awards with nominations for: best independent film, best Actor, best Picture, best Director and finally the Golden Globe for best Foreign Film.
Tour of Rome: The Great Beauty Locations
The daily routine of a journalist who loves to lead a worldly life, takes the audience on a tour of Rome to discover the great beauty of the past. Rome from the Eternal City has turned into a really seedy City, ruined by frivolities of the present. The shootings of the movie were made almost entirely in Rome, with a few scenes shot in Tuscany, on the island of Giglio: Colosseum, Roman Forum, Circus Maximus, the Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, the Capitoline Museums, the Terme of Caracalla, etc. also appear in the film.
