Oh, how beautiful was Rome a century ago.” Nostalgic there are always ( and there always have been ) but now have a bit ‘ of material to regret the good old days. Just to see the beautiful pictures of the Archives Peroni on display these days in the Macro Via Nizza for “alimentari” that feeling (the exhibition closes on December 8 ). The location is no accident, for many decades, in fact , the historic brewery had its own factories in Mantua via a few steps from Porta Pia, where today stands the museum , hence the full title of the exhibition , ” Portrait of district . To be precise Peroni , founded in the mid-nineteenth was not born at Porta Pia , but in the center: in 1864 the company founder Francesco Peroni , decided to start production in the future capital of the newly formed Kingdom Italian , entrusting his son John. The plants were transferred to Via Mantova in 1901 and remained there until 1970 (today in Split Tower ) . Sifting through the archives researchers have found beautiful photographs that tell the story of a neighborhood , rather than a company.

The initiative . Until December 8, the inhabitants of the neighborhood and all the Romans can recall the past in the images, preserved thanks to the work of the Museum and the Historical Archives of Birra Peroni , and help themselves with their own photographs – which is dedicated to a exposure corner – to make it more rich and complete the exhibition , documenting the changes over time of places and contexts , including architectural details and period details. Images authentic , able to tell the transformations of the entire area , from the first 900 to today.
