Rome is the quintessence of romanticism

Domes that seem like painted on the skyline colored in red at sunset, remains of a magnificent past, so big to physically exist still. A climate that caresses your skin while splendid monuments look like placed there to create a timeless and fabled scenery, the ideal one for a rendezvous with your loved one. Rome is the quintessence of romanticism, but there are some special spots that will make you experience and unforgettable time, that will remain stamped on your heart forever.

Rome at dusk.

Pincian Hill

This is the most historic urban promenade of the Romans, that since Napoleonic time used to enjoy events and games. It was a real garden of the city and from the terrace located behind the back of Villa Borghese, it boasts a striking view on the famous and beautiful Piazza del Popolo. Built on the early 800’s and projected with a neoclassical style by Valadier, it constitutes the first public garden that Napoleon decided to establish. Once there you have to visit Casina Valadier too, an important and classy cafe built on the remains of an old hamlet.

Vista Gianicolo

Janiculum

Romantic place par excellence from which you can admire the whole city… what else? In the past it was the set of an heroic and crucial battle against the Frenchmen, since there symbol of the Risorgimento and unification of Italy. This huge public park offers a promenade without equal as well as one of the most suggestive panoramas of the old town center of Rome. Two wide tree-lined boulevards flanking Villa Aurelia, joining together in Garibaldi square to continue in one road that descends in hairpin turns towards Sant’Onofrio church like in a sort of spy movie but with an happy end.

The Aventine Hill and the Orange Garden

A peculiar and charming place that arises on one of the Seven Hills on which Rome was built, the Aventine Hill specifically. Climbing up through cobblestone roads you will find a fairy tale spot, also set of remarkable movies scenes, for instance the Oscar-winning The Great Beauty. The Orange Garden offer a splendid view on the Eternal City and an oasis from the crowd with lovely orange trees and above all a unique secret, the Keyhole doorway of the Villa del Priorato. From it, right in the center, it’s possible to see a poetic view of St. Peter’s Dome, marvellously framed by the trees inside the garden just beyond the door.

Basilica di Massenzio

Basilica of Maxentius

This very ancient building is in the Roman Forum and was the largest construction in the Forum. Also known as “Basilica Nova”, the new Basilica, it is the biggest civil basilica in the monumental centre of Rome. Illuminated at night it offers a moving show for eyes that would touch even the toughest heart. Bring your half in this enchanted place to gaze at these old remains, to dream with open eyes about an endless past and a future in the name of love.
