Our blog goal is to become a touchstone for the ones who want to discover off the radar and hidden gems Italy has in store. For this reason, this time we want to make you find out Italian pearls off the radar you have to visit. We can start exploring the first 4!

Bergamo

Bergamo is one of the most beautiful hilly cities of the Lombardy region. It is very close to Milan and is divided in the modern Lower City and the ancient Upper City, boasting a charming old town center surrounded by Middle Ages walls, and characterized by cobblestone streets, encircled by Venetian walls and accessible by funicular. It’s home to the Duomo di Bergamo, the city cathedral. Also here are the Romanesque Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore and the grand Cappella Colleoni, a chapel with 18th-century frescoes by Tiepolo.

Gabicce Mare

Gabicce Mare, also named Gabicce, is a town in the Province of Pesaro and Urbino, representing the central Marche region. Its typology of beach represents some of the most recurring characteristics of the Adriatic coast, famous worldwide. Here the long stretches of beaches with white sand are scattered with colored beach umbrellas, but for the most adventurous ones there is no shortage of suggestive coves far from tourist masses and beaches, all to be discovered. We suggest to visit this seaside place, once a fisherman’s place, but nowadays an important summer tourist center boarding with well-known Rimini.

Treviso

This little pearl situated in the Veneto region, is described by poets as a “courteous city”, due to its quiet and peaceful atmosphere that persuaded 18th-Century Venetian aristocrats to choose this area as their ideal vacation spot. But also today it can be an ideal place for a relaxing weekend, thanks to fascinating fluvial landscapes that mix with pretty hills and thriving fields that are dotted with elegant dwells. Medieval gates, narrow alleys and arcades tinged with pink and red, to not mention canals streaming among houses flowing from old mills.

Sovana

Our blog is full of references to stunning Tuscany, but the town of Sovana is a special off the beaten path discovery. Definitely less visited than Siena or Pisa, Sovana is a must-see during your Tuscan tour. A little bigger than a single street it presents Middle Ages buildings left untouched, an ancient church worth a visit and excellent traditional restaurants and hotels. Don’t miss this timeless town Etruscan by origin and visit the Romanesque church of Santa Maria Maggiore and its Cathedral, built in the 11th-12th centuries over a most ancient 8thcentury edifice, also in Romanesque style.
