Here are a few suggestions for some exhibitions that can be visited in Rome for free, or almost.. Don’t forget that most of Rome’s museums and monuments are free of charge for anyone under 18 years of age or over 65.

• Museo Mario Praz
Until 24 March you can see the exhibition ‘Visitors’ book. Ospiti a casa Praz. Ritratti fotografici di Milton Gendel, lettere, dediche e recensioni’, illustrating what the art and literature critic Mario Praz himself described as the world I have seen. Via Zanardelli, 1. • Festival of Great Italian Films
Until 25 February, Associazione Culturale Cinem’Art, in collaboration with Sinergy Art Studio, presents a selection of films that marked the country’s cultural, social and cinematographic development will be shown. • Palazzo delle Esposizioni
Thanks to funding from Gioco del Lotto lottery, on the first Wednesday of the month admission is free for all visitors under 30 years old between the hours of 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. On Friday and Saturday, from 7 p.m. until the ticket office closes, students, research assistants and undergraduates from Rome’s universities (public and private) can buy an entrance ticket to the exhibition for the price of €4.

• Some Like it Classical
The free event ‘A qualcuno piace classico’ is still running; the public can rediscover some of the masterpieces that have marked the history of film either on the large screen or in their original 35mm format. This edition features, among other big names, from Buñuel to Kurosawa, Herzog to Fellini, and including Wilder, Kazan, Melville and von Sternberg, to name just a few. Info: Palazzo delle Esposizioni – Sala Cinema. Stairway at Via Milano 9A. Admission free while seats are available.
