Birth of Rome, the re-enactment of the Roman Historical Group
On the occasion of the Birth of Rome, the re-enactment in costume of the Roman Historical Group returns. The program for Rome’s 2775th birthday will take place from 21st to 24th of April. After a streaming edition last year, due to Covid, the event is finally back in attendance at the Circus Maximus.
Departure at Noon on 21st of April with the traditional rite to the Roman gods – Circus Maximus: the traditional pietas association will carry out the rite to the Roman gods, aimed at honoring the memory and healthy values of the Roman world. We continue at 4 pm with the “track of the furrow Circo Massimo”, at 5:00 pm Le Palilie; at 7:30 PM Renewal of the sacred fire in the square in Campo Marzio; then at 8:00 pm Benedictio verbi, at the Pantheon (square of the rotunda).
The celebrations of the Roman Historical Group will also continue on Friday 22nd of April, starting at 9:00 AM with I castra imperiale e repubblicano at the Circus Maximus. Until 4:00 pm there are also didactic desks at the Castrvm (the Roman woman: clothing and make-up, the Roman man: clothing and other curiosities, the Roman school, medicine, food, religion, mosaics, ointments and perfumes, legionaries and praetorians, gladiators, weapons and fighting techniques). There will also be a gladiatorial essay for all the children present in the exhibition area.
A meeting with the writer Giuseppe Cascarino Ornatus the clothing of the Romans is scheduled from 2:00 to 3:00 pm. Finally, Sunday 24th of April at the exhibition area of the Circus Maximus and in via dei Fori Imperiali, at 10:00 am, “Commissio Feriarvm” opening ceremony. At 10:15 am Greetings from the president and institutional greetings. At 10:45 am, historical procession starts from the Circus Maximus. 11:00 am, Ceremony of honors to the praetorian prefect, officiated by the emperor hadrian (hadriano augusto valerio bello)) president of the Augustus Caesar Praetoria in the presence of the goddess rome and the president of the Roman Historical Group Sergio Nerone Iacomoni at the statue of Augustus on via of the imperial forums.
