Best of Rome:

Rome wasn’t built in a day, but our promise is, you’ll see it in one.

Experience the history of the culture of Rome, from the foundation of the city to modern day on our Best of Rome in a Day Tour, covering all the most famous sights of the Eternal City.We start our tour off at the city’s most popular site, the Colosseum. With Skip the Line Access, you won’t waste time waiting in line.

Your expert, English-speaking Tour guide will take you straight inside, telling you stories of gladiators, animals, and emperors to bring these ancient stones to life. Wander the first and second levels of the amphitheater built for an audience of 80,000 and imagine what it must have been like to be there during combat, or when this incredible structure was filled with water for the re-enactment of a sea battle.

Of course, there’s more to Ancient Rome than the Colosseum. Palatine Hill is home to the city’s oldest ruins, as the birthplace of Rome, while the Roman Forum has taught us volumes about what life was like at this time. With Skip the Line Access here too, you’ll have more time with your expert guide and small group sizes, making it easy to ask all the questions that are on your mind.

We’ll take a break so that you can get lunch (not included, but be sure to ask your guide for recommendations nearby), before reconvening near a metro stop in the historic center of Rome. Here, you’ll meet another expert guide and be given another headset so you won’t miss a word. During our walking tour, we’ll delve more into Renaissance Rome, visiting Bernini’s ‘Fountain of Four Rivers’, the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain. We’ll also see Raphael’s tomb at the incredible Pantheon, whose enormous ancient dome is a marvel of engineering even in the modern day.

Seeing Rome in a day is hard work, so we’ll take this part of the day with ease, stopping for a gelato or espresso depending on the season (included in the price). Our emphasis will be more on the stories behind the monuments than facts and figures (although our guides know all of these too), helping you to build a picture of what it was like to live in this city during the time of Bernini, Raphael, and Michelangelo. Recounting the birth of the empire, Renaissance Rome and what leads up to today, you’ll learn where Rome got its nickname, The Eternal City.

We reserve the right to change the order in which we visit the sites
