As its name suggests, Brunch is a combination of breakfast and lunch.

A culinary tradition originated in England and then spread first in the United States and subsequently all around the world. Recently In Italy multiplied the places where you can enjoy this Sunday rich meal. Especially in Rome there are plenty of places that offer brunch: restaurants, bakeries, but even art galleries, to combine food and art with an educational museum visit. The peculiarity of the brunches in Rome is that it is more like a lunch than a proper breakfast: you won’t find only bacon, eggs and pancakes, but more traditional Italian food, served as a buffet.

Lanificio Cucina

This modern tavern, well-known as a nightclub, it is a 3-floors loft with vintage decor and glass walls overlooking Aniene river. Every Saturday and Sunday you will find “fusion” cuisine that mixes Anglo-Saxon and American traditions with Italian one. You will savor bacon, eggs and roast as well as Italian meatballs and varied vegetables. Every first Sunday of the month it hosts also one of Rome’s most famous vintage markets. Once there don’t forget to try the lasagna!

Maybe one of the most “faithful” brunches in Rome.
Open from Sunday morning it offers an authentic new yorker-inspired Brunch.
This bakery in fact presents a menu with the best international specialities: bagels, wraps, omelettes, burgers, soups and to cap it all, delicious “Dolci” like muffins, pancakes or fudges. The location is noteworthy too. Glass, wood and wrought-iron will make you feel like being in a Paris brasserie.

 

Maxxi Brunch Rome

The Roman Museum dedicated to contemporary art is famous for its exhibitions and futuristic building (designed by the architect Zaha Hadid), but lately also for its interesting events. Events like its brunches indeed, that are served everyday and offer abundant buffets set up in wide rooms. Forget America and enjoy the proper Italian cuisine in a classy atmosphere: pasta, savory pies, corn mush and many sweet delicacies.
Three big black parallelepipeds receive the food with a table for each course. Try aubergine parmesan or the excellent panna cotta and creme caramel!

Surrounded by the greenery of Villa Doria Pamphili, one of the most beautiful Rome’s villas, it has been built upon a XIX century barn and turned into a farmhouse in occitan style. You’ll love the venue unique style with its natural wood, wrought iron chairs, old mirrors, fireplaces and season flowers. In this lovely setting you will savor healthy but fanciful bio food like yogurt, muesli, eggs and much more. Otherwise you can opt for a picnic solution eating on the garden around the bistrot. A very relaxing and enjoyable experience. You have to try the cous-cous and apple crumble with custard cream!
