Back to normal, goodbye to the Green Pass from today: stop wearing masks even at the bar

Here are the new rules and what changes in Italy starting today:

New Covid Rules from May 1st 2022

It is slowly returning to normal and this Sunday 1st of May 2022 marks an important stage in the now very long coexistence of Italians with Covid.

In fact, starting today, the green pass will be presented in very few places (for example, the RSA) and even the masks will be recommended but not mandatory in many places.

The mask will remain mandatory on long-distance travel (trains and airplanes), in cinemas, theaters and in closed sports competitions. This at least until June 15th.

At work, in the public, they will be “recommended” for prudence, while in the private sector, individual companies will decide whether or not to make their employees wear them.

The recommendations, in any case, always remain the same: sanitize your hands, keep your distance and avoid crowds.

Will the green pass still be required to travel abroad?
Yes. The rules change according to the destination countries but the green pass in its “basic” form (vaccination, recovery or negative swab) will continue to be necessary for entry into EU countries. Not only. An ordinance by the Minister of Health extended the measures for those arriving in Italy or returning from abroad to 31st of May: a test as well as a vaccination or recovery pass (green pass base) will continue to be enough.

Will the mask still be needed on the means of transport? And which?
The government has decided to extend the obligation to wear the Ffp2 mask on all local and long-distance means of transport – from buses to subways, from regional trains to high-speed trains to ferries and airplanes until 15th of June 2022

f I go shopping or go to the supermarket, do I have to bring a mask with me?
Not anymore. In shops, shopping centers, supermarkets, bars and restaurants indoors, the mask will no longer be mandatory from May 1st. As well as in public offices, banks, post offices, museums, discos, as well as in the barbershop, hairdresser, beautician. But since these are “public” or “open to the public” indoor places, use is recommended.

Are there any outdoor places where the mask is mandatory?
No, in addition to the stadium, the obligation to wear an outdoor mask has also been eliminated for shows and concerts. Outdoors (unlike indoors) there is not even a recommendation to wear a mask.
