"Auteur Soccer" – Now an Art Exhibition

I’d like to know those of you who don’t like soccer, or at least who in their family don’t have one or more soccer lovers. Well, more than a sport a real credo for a lot of people around the world, it is maybe the sport that joins every country in the world. Italy is soccer land par excellence and indeed it decided to dedicate an exhibition to the most popular sport of the globe. The exhibition “Calcio d’autore” (Auteur Soccer) will be on display at Auditorium, Rome from June 11 to July 27 and we have decided to write about that, exactly while the World Cup keeps the people of the whole world glued to the screen.
Not only the sport quintessentially, an obsession that attracted maybe more than anything, the imagination of artists of all sorts, but also a deep socio-anthropological phenomenon that concerns universal matters. For many artists, the lens through which reflect about nationalism and identity perspectives, mass culture and participation. In this manner talked about that Pasolini, a big fan of the friendly match and keen Bologna’s team supporter: “Soccer is the last holy representation of our time. It is a deep ritual, although it is escapism. While other holy representations, even the Mass are on the decline, soccer is the only one left. It is the show that replaced theater.
This unusual exhibit presents the viewer videos, pictures, sounds, even an artist table football, a meeting point to interact and play. The works of Elisabetta Benassi, Luca Vitone e Cesare Viel, Maurizio Cattelan, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Giancarlo Neri, Grazia Toderi, Gianni Piangentimi e Fausto Delle Chiaie, describe and tell us about football from different and new angles, as an obsession of the athletic art and metaphor of social problems of the global society.
