Artistic Lights in Salerno: a spectacular exhibition
Every year since 2006, in occasion of Christmas season, the city of Salerno (in the region of Campania, South Italy), offers a spectacular artistic exhibition. “Luci d’Artista” (Artistic Lights) is a charming show of lights and colors that envelopes in its evocative and fantastic atmosphere. The event that has reached its fifth edition (with its sister city Turin from 2009) is definitely something more than the usual Christmas lights. We are dealing in fact with proper works of art ideated by contemporary artists that stand out for their high scenographic nature and their deeply conceptual and symbolic values.
During the different editions has been very successful the theme of the “enchanted garden”, that transforms the gardens and the villa of the town into a fabulous eden populated by wizards, magicians, light tunnels, princesses and fabled figures.
Artistic Lights in Salerno: 2014-2015 edition
This year you will be catapulted in a fantastic scenario made of illuminated works of art scattered among the alleys, squares and seafront of the city. The themes of 2014-2015 edition are Aurora Borealis, the Circus and Fairy Tales exactly. So this year the event is still more magic, because are on display fantasy characters and ice forests: Peter Pan, Cinderella, exotic worlds and starry vaults will turn into big light statues set up in the heart of the major squares of Salerno. The most part of the luminous works and the different Disney characters are installed in the municipal villa and in the city gardens, but visitors can cherish the light statues also in the smaller streets, even in the outskirts of the city. In addition, on the promenade of Salerno visitors can spot funny penguins, a whole colony, that teleport the mediterranean city to the Antarctic.
You will be struck by the multitude and the variety of the installations and through the storytelling of the characters you will immerse yourself in a dreamlike dimension, enriched by stories enjoyable using your smartphones, through a QR code that is set on each work.
Furthermore the whole city gives a unique atmosphere with its Christmas handicraft shops, markets and lights that will make you feel inside a huge “Presepe”.
