Things you absolutely have to do in Rome

Rome, as well as any other big city, offers many ideas and things to do besides the usual tourist attractions. But Rome is Rome and I am sure that it will amaze you.

Do you want to do a little jogging under the bridge that fully represents the transition period between the Classical Age and the contemporary one? You can do this Rome Bridges Tour Map. Do you want to walk on the same streets once beaten by the Roman emperors? You can do that too. Whatever your passions, your tastes, you will find something because there is so much to do and to see. You only need to think about something, Rome will surely satisfy you.

Here it is a list of suggestions about things to see, but there is so much more that is equally interesting, so exert yourself!

    • Visit roman Street Art districts. This unique form of art has spread around the world and Rome is no exception to many other capital cities. Its beauty attracted many artists of the street art world, who have chosen to leave their mark on its streets.
    • Shopping in one of the corner markets of Rome. Almost every district of Rome has its own local market where to shop or just buy a snack or some fruits to eat around the city streets. If you want to feel like a proper roman you have to visit some of them.
    • See museums at night thanks to the annual event “Night of Museums”. This year the event takes places May 17 from 20 pm to 2 am, with extraordinary museums openings and free entry to many events.
    • Leaning out from the Pincio Terrace at sunset. If you feel like romantic or if you are passionate photographers of landscapes, this stop is crucial. I do not want to anticipate to you anything about the beauty of this place at sunset, you have to go there
    • Cinecittà has been in the past and still is a great pride for the city. Rome is one of the most popular European cities of cinema, many well-known old films have been shot here and contributed to make Rome famous around the world.
    • Tiber Island to be seen especially in the summer. Linked to the two banks of the Tiber by Ponte Cestius and Ponte Fabricio, it is long a little bit more than 300 meters and 90 meters large; it hosts the Isola del Cinema event, filling the summer program with exhibitions of art films and short movies of international cinema
    • Portaportese. Another mandatory stop is definitely one of the most popular old markets of the city. Here you will find just everything. A mix of odd objects, heirlooms, relics, bizarre second-hand clothing, and a mix of ethnic groups, cultures and languages that confer it a great charm

    • Coppedè district It is actually a group of buildings different for size and shape, which take their name from the architect who designed them. An example of nineteenth century Italian originality, these are a mix of Liberty style, Art Deco, Gothic and Baroque as well. A walk in a fairy tale between marble, multicolored decorations, arches and stained glass windows.

    • Park of the Aqueducts is an endless expanse of green, located between Rome Appia Nuova and via Tuscolana. Here you could find the remains of seven of the eleven aqueducts that supplied the city. Our advice is to go there at sunset, you will not regret.
    • Walk, walk, walk and enjoy the city looking at the details around you. Especially during the night with none around and no noise at all, admiring the greatest outdoor museum and its golden light
