The Nutcracker, a Christmas Tradition

This year the programme at the Auditorium Conciliazione once again includes ‘The Nutcracker’ by Tchaikovsky, the most famous Russian composer of the Romantic period, who was born in Votkinsk on 7 May 1840 and died in St. Petersburg on 6
November 1893. This modern version of the ballet is dedicated to the dream world of childhood, the hardship of setting aside the secure world of play and the difficulty adults have finding happiness. Special guest star André De La Roche dances the double role of Nutcracker/Sugar Plum Fairy. The libretto has been adapted by dramaturge Riccardo Reim as an emblematic 21st century fairy tale, choreographed by Mario Piazza and with the corps de ballet of the Balletto di Roma, directed by Maestro Walter Zappolini, one of the leading lights of ballet in Italy. There will be four performances in total, on 6 December, 7 December and on 8 December in the afternoon and the evening.
