Walking Tour of the Roman Squares – Shared Tour

Walking tour locations: Piazza del Popolo, Piazza di Spagna, Piazza Venezia and Piazza Navona

“Il Babuino”, via Ripetta and via del Corso, the three main arterial roads of the old town center, flow into Piazza del Popolo. Ancient seat of games, fairies, popular shows and executions, the Square is one of the most famous in the world. It hosts two twin churches, Santa Maria di Montesanto and Santa Maria dei Miracoli. In addition we can find here the impressive Flaminio Obelisk (the most ancient and the highest in Rome). Our tour goes on towards Piazza Venezia, a strategic place in which intersect some of the most important roads of Rome’s city center: Via dei Fori Imperiali, Via del Corso and Via del Plebiscito indeed start right here, but the square presents many other reason to be visited and admired. For example Palazzo Venezia (old papal seat), the majestic and marble white monument of Vittoriano, with the well-known Altare della Patria.

Walking Tour of the major Squares: Piazza del Popolo, Piazza di Spagna, Piazza Venezia and Piazza Navona

Our unique tour through history and art, continues towards one of the most famous squares of Rome, Navona Square. It presents a peculiar elliptical form that follows the structure of an ancient stadium, in fact it rises up on the site of the ancient Stadium of Domitian, after the emperor who commissioned it, and was inaugurated in 86 AD. It includes several fountains: Fountain of the Four Rivers (designed by the great Bernini), Fountain of Neptune and Moor Fountain. The last stage of our visit ends with The Spanish Steps, one of the most representative images of Rome in the world. It is a monumental Staircase of 135 steps at the feet of Pincio, from which you can cherish a stunning view of the whole City.

Special about this Walking Tour of the Roman Squares

On the facade of the Palazzo delle Assicurazioni was placed a plaque commemorating the visit of Michelangelo Buonarroti, the grand italian artist.
