Europe, Asia, America, Oceania, Africa all come together on the stage of the 27th Rome Europe Festival, an event featuring dance shows, theatre, music, cinema, meetings with artists, visual arts and technological challenges, and boasting a
formidable program me of 43 shows. This year, Rome Europe Festival acknowledges the role that art plays in a changing society by asking the public to do “all that we can do”. Nine Italian premiers, 1 European premiere and 5 world premieres are planned, across city locations, from september 26th to November 25th 2012. Akram Khaninaugura will stage his new show Desh at the Teatro Argentina.
The literary world takes ther stage with the show IMITATION OF DEATH which follows Chuck Palhniuk’s vision. The largest Israeli dance company, Batssheva Dance Company, directed by the choreographer Ohad Naharin, will stage two shows: Deca Dance 2012 and Sadeh 21. The main event of the Festival will be the focus on John Cage in honour of his birth, 20th anniversary of his death and 20th anniversary also of his most famous piece 4’33”. Contemporary music will be celebrated with the live Omaggio a Philip Glass (Homage to Philip Glass). Multimedia installations, musical areas, video art, interactive works of art, encounters and events will direct our eye towards the future.
