“Max is the best tour guide in all of Europe!”
 Reviewed on 31 gen 2013 Tim C
Italy Rome Tour – Max is absolutely the best ever. If you are going to Rome your first time whether for one day or several you MUST seriously consider Max and Italy Rome Tour. He is knowledgable, honest, fun, and passionate about what he does. Even though we were only with him for one day we feel like we made a friend for life. We came home and connected on Facebook and still keep in touch.
Roma. Max was our guide. He was born in Roma and knows it inside and out. He knows so much of the history it is just amazing. We took shortcuts down narrow streets that no sane tourist would attempt in a rental car. All day long, when our paths did cross, I felt sorry for the people in buses that booked with the cruise lines. They went about in groups of 50 with ear pieces and saw very little. We saw so , so much and it was just the three of us. It was probably the most amazing day of our whole vacation and the only day Stacy openly cried more than once. We actually docked 30 minutes late because the NCL Epic was just ahead of us. No worries. Thanks to Max we missed nothing. It was really cool that we drove on the “Arraelia road” which was cool. It led to Roma.We saw the city wall where it had been expanded to included partially the tomb of the General buried in the pyramid which was actually brought from Egypt. He was the only non-emperor buried in the city walls, even if only partly. The coliseum was amazing and Max got us in bypassing all the long lines. Seeing the tower dedicated to Marcus Areliius was cool. It tells the story from bottom to top of his over 300 victorious battles. Max gave us each a .5 Euro to throw in Trevi fountain over our left shoulder, which we did, so that means we will be back in Roma again. We saw the birthday cake building which is the newer government building and it got the negative nickname because Romans don’t like things under 200 years old. It was built on 2000 year old apartments which I got a pic of the remaining parts that were left exposed on the side. We saw the home were Romulus lived and where the Caesar’s had lived next to him , as in Julius and Augustus. It was overlooking the Circus Maximus which is still used today for public events. Then it was on to the Pantheon. Overwhelming. The pictures are not even fair. You have to see it. We saw the obelisk from Egypt located in their Times Square equivalent. Max took us to his old neighborhood where we had a awesome pizza. The restaurant was tucked away off the main streets, but as crow flies no more than 300 yards from the grave of Cesar Augustus. Then on to the Vatican museum, the Sisteen Chapel, and St Peter’s Basillica. There aren’t words that I have the time to write to begin to capture this. I’ll just say that Max highlighted some things that made our whirlwind tour much more insightful than it would have been otherwise. On the way back to the ship I mentioned coffee and even though Max doesn’t drink much coffee he stopped and he even bought our coffee. Then he surprised us with a delicious bottle of Italian wine.
Let there be no hesitation or question… Max will be the best guide you ever hire in your life and he is personable and cares about what he does. He is, dare I say, my friend and I look forward to seeing him again.
