Italy is full of events. And the highlight is concentrated precisely in August, when aided by the hot sun, you have more desire to be outdoors. Here is a selection from North to South, with an extension until September, including musical performances, cultural and gastronomic. All not to be missed. If you love the sea, are several appointments. So during the day you can relax in the sun. In the evening you are having fun listening to music or taking part in theatrical performances.
On the sea front of Ancona, August 24 to 31, is staged Adriatic Mediterranean Festival, in an area that now, thanks to this event, has rediscovered its vocation to the exchange and comparison between peoples and cultures. Each of the sites chosen for the music will have its vocation: the Arch of Trajan to the concerts at sunset, with the Mediterranean jazz, the Church of Jesus, with classical music, folk music with Marina Dorian, the square of the Muses with the night of Taranta Mediterranean. The focus of all events is the Court of the Mole, where every evening, beginning at 21.15, the big names will be rotated.
In Viareggio, the protagonists are three large papier-mâché floats, which exceptionally, Saturday 24 August, returning to withdraw, completely illuminated with movement, music and masks, to invade the waterfront (from 20.30, admission free). Is this one of the Rainbow Summer, the big party that will involve the whole of Tuscany, on the weekend of 23-25 August. Two hundred events in the program, 800 bathing establishments involved, special evenings by the Puccini Festival at Bolgheri Melody.

Do you prefer the islands? In Ponza, the pearl of the Tyrrhenian Sea from the wild and untouched nature, there will be spoiled for choice. Numerous events Ponzaestate, all completely free, scheduled until September theatrical performances, concerts, festivals, comedy, sports competitions, culinary festival. Waves Road allows you to see the artists live in the square and in the streets. The tradition, history and myth come alive during the three performances presented by the company Top Spin, contained in the title “Ponza on the borders of myth,” theatrical trilogy of transformation, conceived and directed by Francesco Maria Cordella. There is also space for the children, with the puppet theater company “The Fisherman Stars” directed by Ulrike Brokoph (12 and 19 August).
For mountain lovers both great event not to be missed. Until 21 August, in Alta Badia in the Dolomites, there is the tenth edition of the literary review A book, a refuge. Here the seduction of words added to the seduction of the places continues to have an irresistible effect.
