2014 Best Italian Beaches Vol.2

Here we go with the second chapter of our article about the best italian beaches, 14 marine places that this summer will wave the “5 sails “.

Let’s go on with the list of the 2014 most beautiful italian beaches, real paradises for a perfect beach holiday in Italy.

Best italian beach: Vernazza

Mother nature here let its light shine. One of the most peculiar villages of the Cinque Terre, in the Liguria region, included in UNESCO World Heritage List.
A breath-taking sight made of a massive rocky spur that surrounds the port, upon which arise houses similar to little towers that look out onto a fantastic sea.

Best italian beach: Otranto

Another Puglia treasure, it is located on the Salento peninsula. The Strait of Otranto connects the Adriatic Sea with the Ionian Sea and separates Italy from Albania. The lighthouse Faro della Palascìa, at approximately 5 kilometres (3 miles) south-east of Otranto, marks the most easterly point of the Italian mainland. A fabolous Aragonese castle is the background of the crystal clear sea.

Best italian beach: Maratea

A little gem in the region of Basilicata, stands out for its 32 km of uncontaminated coast, with more than twenty beaches.
Because of its beautiful scenery and coastline, it has been called “the Pearl of the Tyrrhenian”. It has also been described as “the town with 44 churches”. One of the main characteristics of Maratea is the diversity of its landscapes, varying from breath-taking sea views to wooded hillsides and majestic mountains which sweep down to the sea creating steep cliffs.

Best italian beach: Roccella Jonica

Located in the Ionian Sea, in Calabria, it presents awesome waters and very well-groomed beaches. You can admire also the Medieval Citadel and its ancient Carafa Castle.
We have to mention its bike-sharing service and various pedestrian areas in order to limit pollution.

Best italian beach: Baunei

In the province of Cagliari, Sardinia, it is famous for its seaside resorts. It spreads over Su Sterru, the deepest caspian abyss in Europe. It succeeded in preserving almost 40 km of uncontaminated coasts and an original inland made of blu and green painted areas. Definitely one of the most wonderful, wild and irregular sections of Italian seaboard.
